Bluefin Tuna
Bluefin Tuna are generally very blue colored along their upper body, including their top and side fins and the tail, the lower body colors range from bluish-white to silvery-blue in color, and they have spots or striping in this area also. They can become a very large fish, in fact they can grow to weigh over 800 lbs, and attain a length of over 6 feet.
Bluefin Tuna are one of the most highly prized tunas there is, restaurants crave them for their delicious meat, and it's not uncommon for a large Bluefin Tuna to sell for several thousand dollars.
Bluefin Tuna are a prized catch to fishermen do to their massive size, the awesome power and fight they put up when caught and the price that they can be sold for. They roam throughout the ocean, and can live to be almost a half century old.
When fishing for Bluefin Tuna, you must charter a boat and have a crew that is well experienced in catching them, because they have been known to have killed some anglers over the years, do to their massive weigh and strength.
The fishermen must be very securely attached to the seat of the boat, and the pole must also be anchored separate from the angler, to prevent either from easily being pulled overboard by the fish.
Rods, reels, line and hooks, and all equipment must be very heavy duty and in excellent shape to handle these monsters. Once hooked, anglers have reported it's like having Godzilla on the end of the line, and it can take several hours to bring the massive fish in. When bait fishing for Bluefin Tuna the best choices seem to be; squid, and baitfish like herring, butterfish and even eels.
