Tarpon
Tarpon can grow to be real monsters, in fact they can grow to be several feet in length, and weigh a few hundred pounds, their main body color is shiny gray to silverish in color.
Tarpon are one of the great gamefish sought after by sports fishermen, their massive size and features make them a great catch to have displayed as a mount on the wall of an office, den or sports bar, or such other locations.
Tarpon require heavy duty fishing gear to catch, and reel them in with, they are fierce fighters and despite their massive weight and length, they will easily jump with their entire bodies out of the water when hooked.
Anglers will not only need heavy duty gear when landing them, but you should also be strapped into the boat or on the dock, or where ever you are fishing for them, because with their huge size and strength, a tarpon can pull an adult human into the water. A strong mount is also needed or recommended to anchor the fishing pole to when reeling them in.
When fishing for Tarpon using baits, some good recommendations by anglers who have caught them are medium sized live baitfish, ranging from 4 to 6 inches in length, and nice sized live crabs.
Their are also those that say that they have more success catching Tarpon using chunks of fish bait, that have been cut up, so if your not having much luck catching Tarpon with live baitfish, trying cutting them up, as the blood and scents may attract some Tarpon.
When fishing for Tarpon using lures instead of bait, choose some large artificial baitfish looking lures, ones that simulate the natural small fish that live in the same area as the Tarpons do, and imitation crab lures may provide some success also.
